Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med-Surg/Tele night shift position requiring active TN or compact RN license and NIHSS certification.
Details

• Inpatient Med-Surg/Telemetry unit specializing in stroke and TIA patients, along with higher acuity med-surg cases
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including stroke/TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart cath, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, CHF, and sepsis
• Performs peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation
• Night shift, 3x12 schedule from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Floating required to other units and campuses based on need and qualifications
• Uses Omnicell medication system and Epic EMR
• 13 to 26 week contract options available

Requirements
Active TN or compact RN license required
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a similar unit required
Previous charge nurse experience required
Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
Competency in cardiac drip management, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation
Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and colostomy/ileostomy care
Additional Information
Deliver high-quality care to stroke, TIA, and complex med-surg patients with a strong focus on patient experience
Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
Orientation held every Monday, with annual compliance training required
Complete pre-assignment testing and required modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Travelers must live more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible for the position, with reduced eligibility distances for select specialties
Floating is required to other qualified units or campuses within the health system based on census needs
