Head of Project Management

General Summary This position is responsible for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects ranging from $15 – $49 million in size. The role focuses on project revenue and cost forecasting, budget coordination, estimation, bid review, project kickoff, and resource management.

Responsibilities Perform accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting to ensure corporate profitability goals are met.

Coordinate with estimators and project controls group to establish budget.

Lead estimating efforts on vertically integrated projects to ensure accurate and consistent bid‑to‑build process.

Coordinate efforts with estimators & area managers to manage resources and meet project schedules.

Participate in bid review and bid closing to ensure bid accuracy and evaluate project feasibility.

Develop bid schedule with estimating team.

Create comprehensive plan for project start‑up and successful kick‑off.

Facilitate dynamic project communication between Project Engineers, Foremen, Superintendents, and Area Manager.

Ensure proper job controls for quantities, costs, revenue, and schedule.

Engage with owners, agencies, subcontractors, corporate management, inspectors, and others to build long‑term partnerships.

Provide accurate construction reports to enable continuous performance improvement.

Run projects at profitability levels to meet or exceed expected margins.

Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications Education: BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience in heavy civil construction.

Work Experience: Five or more years of progressive project experience in heavy civil environments, including paving, dirt, and grading in private or public settings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of construction paving, underground, concrete, and grading practices.

Understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage issues.

Ability to work in high production environments.

Demonstrated decision‑making skills.

Excellent leadership, supervisory, communication, and organizational skills.

Attention to accuracy and detail.

Physical Demands The role requires the employee to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, operate a computer keyboard, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity for close work and focus adjustment is necessary. Reasonable accommodations exist for individuals with disabilities. Work may involve large construction equipment and outdoor conditions.

Base Salary Range $134,234.00 - $201,352.00
