Job Description Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
An individual who, under professional supervision, provides assistance with nutritional and environmental support, personal hygiene, feeding and dressing to clients in their residence.

Reports to the Nursing Supervisor
Risk Of Occupational Exposure To Blood Borne Pathogens: B: limited exposure
Successful completion of a nurse aide training and competency evaluation program pursuant to the requirements of 42 CFR Part 483, Subpart D as revised or recoded, if applicable;
Successful completion of a health care or personal care credentialing program recognized and approved by the department;
Successful completion or progress in the completion of a 40 hour training program provided by a private home care provider, which addresses at least the following areas:
Assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, dental care, dressing, and eating;
Basic first aid and CPR;
Caring for clients with special conditions and needs so long as the services are within the scope of the tasks authorized to be performed demonstration;
Home safety and sanitation;
Infection control in the home;
Proper nutrition.
Speaks, reads, and writes and able to communicate effectively in English.
Have not made any material false statements concerning qualifications requirements either to the Department or the provider.

Personal Care - assists with:

• Bath (tub, shower or bed), Oral hygiene, Grooming and care of hair, Ordinary care of nails
• Routine skin care/ lotion massage, Positioning and turning of patents that cannot assist self- in bed and chair, Elimination, Assist with eating, dressing walking and toileting
• Meal planning and preparation in accordance with complex and modified diets
• Light housekeeping; washing dishes, clean kitchen, dust & vacuum, only those rooms

• Follow emergency procedures in the event of any incident, e.g., Essential Administrative Functions:
• Report any incident or change in condition of client or environment immediately.
• Follow all appropriate Provider policies.
• Attend in-service education annually per Provider policy.
• Show interest, asks questions and seek help as indicated; is receptive to supervision.
• Able to travel to prospective client’s place of residence.
