Job Description
This position requires proficiency in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and provides a 48-hour guarantee. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced cardiac unit with a focus on patient-centered care.

Unit Overview
Number of Beds: 30
Patient Ratio: 6:1
Staffing: Includes unit clerk, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) during both day and night shifts, Nursing Supervisor, and Hospitalists.
Equipment and Documentation
Type of Equipment: Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, GE Telemetry, and Rover.
Documentation System: Meditech-HCA version.
Medication Dispensing: WOW for all nurses, PyxisES dispensing system.
Scheduling Requirements
Equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule).
Floating Policy: May float to other Medical/Surgical areas including General MS, Ortho, PCU (Progressive Care Unit), and M/S Surgical with Oncology based on skill mix needs.
Patient Experience Requirements
Engagement in bedside and hourly rounding, utilizing 5P checks.
Communication of known needs to PCTs at the beginning and during shifts.
Regular updates via glass board and email for department focus areas.
Qualifications
Certifications Required: BLS/ACLS/NIH.
Desired Skills: Cardiac knowledge preferred.
Advanced Skills: Proficiency in managing Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips.
Procedures Performed on Unit
Chest tube management
Wound vac management
Electrocardiograms (EKGs) as needed
Dress Code
Registered Nurses: Navy scrubs.
Patient Care Technicians: Ceil blue scrub set and jacket (optional).
Undergarments may include white, blue, grey, orange, or black t-shirts (no graphics). No artificial or gel nails/polish permitted.
Unit Guidelines and Policies
Documentation of telemetry application and acknowledgment of rhythm strips in the chart each shift.
Strict adherence to NO PASS ZONE for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms.
