Full Time Project Architect

Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our team. This is not an entry-level position and requires a minimum of eight years of professional experience in an architectural firm. This role is comparable to an AIA Architect Level III position and requires the application of advanced architectural knowledge, professional judgment, and independent decision-making.
The Project Architect is responsible for managing architectural projects through all phases of design and construction administration while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and project requirements. The Project Architect provides technical leadership, oversees design development and documentation, and mentors junior staff. This role contributes to the continued growth of the architecture department while delivering high-quality architectural solutions for commercial, municipal, and federal clients.

Project Architect also participates in ongoing safety and equipment training to ensure proper and safe performance of all duties.
This is a permanent, full-time position, exempt position.
This position is expected to fulfill job responsibilities as required to meet project demands. Workdays are typically scheduled Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on project needs.

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Manage Architecture projects through all phases of design (conceptual to construction documents) and through construction.
Leads and oversee the preparation of construction documents.
Develop and review project specifications and technical documentation.
Effectively, interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
Perform QA/QC and technical reviews.
Effectively communicate and coordinate with project team, subconsultants, and clients.
Coordinate workload of team members through multiple phases to complete documents on schedule and budget.
Perform construction administration tasks, including review of shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, preparing site observation reports, and documentation.
Some travel and field work may be required.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule).
Proficient in Autodesk Revit and Autodesk AutoCAD.
Experience preparing architectural contract documents and specifications.
Experience in the areas of commercial, municipal and/or military facilities.
Knowledge of Photoshop and SketchUp.
Knowledge of architectural systems, components and assemblies.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
Ability to be independent and work with little supervision.
Strong knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
