Full-Time Advocate

Job Type/Status: Full-Time

The Advocate is responsible for victim services, including case management, advocacy, and crisis-counseling as well as presenting educational programs to the community. Advocates report directly to the Program Coordinator.

Outreach activities to educate and engage the community

Accompany victims through procedures at area hospitals, police departments, prosecutor's office and court. Provide victims with case-related medical and legal information.

Collaborate with community partners in order to provide victims with the best resources and services possible

Attend community-based meetings and workshops

Present program information at health fairs, community events and professional organizations. Assist with office procedures pertinent to the operations of the program.

The Advocate must successfully complete 40 hour New Jersey State Certified Sexual Violence Advocacy Training provided by Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV). Advocates have experience working with people, especially on a one-to-one basis, and demonstrated sensitivity toward the needs of victims. A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services is mandatory. Work experience may substitute for education on a year-to-year basis.
