SummaryAs an Armed Security Guard, you will be responsible for protecting people, property, and assets while maintaining a visible armed security presence within a government, corporate, retail, or commercial environment. This role requires strict adherence to post orders, use-of-force policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.Armed officers are expected to exercise sound judgment, maintain situational awareness, and respond appropriately to security threats, emergencies, and criminal activity. Responsibilities include conducting armed patrols, monitoring surveillance and alarm systems, controlling access points, deterring criminal behavior, and preparing detailed incident reports.In addition to security enforcement, this role supports SSC’s G.Principles — Greet, Engage, and Thank, ensuring professionalism and positive engagement with customers, visitors, and associates while maintaining authority and control.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct armed security patrols on foot or by vehicle, as assignedMaintain lawful possession and safe handling of assigned firearm at all timesObserve, deter, and respond to criminal activity, threats, or suspicious behaviorMonitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systemsControl access and egress points and verify authorized entryIdentify and address safety hazards or irregular conditionsRespond to emergencies and critical incidents in accordance with use-of-force policyNotify and coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders as requiredPrepare accurate, detailed written reports on incidents, accidents, and suspicious activityPreserve evidence and maintain scene integrity when necessaryMaintain a clean, professional, and command-presence post areaCustomer Service & Engagement (G.Principles)Greet customers, guests, tenants, and associates in a professional, respectful mannerEngage proactively while maintaining situational awareness and officer safetyThank individuals for their cooperation and patronage when appropriateProvide directions and general site information without compromising securityDe-escalate situations verbally when possible and appropriateAddress concerns or complaints professionally and escalate to management when requiredEducation, Licensing & Firearms RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED requiredMust possess a valid State Armed Security Guard License/CardMust possess a valid firearm permit and meet all state and local firearms requirementsSuccessful completion of an approved armed security/firearms training programMust qualify with assigned firearm as required by SSC and state lawMust pass applicable licensing tests if operating a company-owned or client-provided vehicleExperienceVerifiable work history requiredOne (2) years of armed security, military, or law enforcement experienceSkills & AbilitiesStrong judgment and decision-making skillsAbility to remain calm and professional under stressExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to follow post orders, use-of-force policies, and legal requirementsProficient basic computer skills for report writing and documentationStrong observation, threat assessment, and situational awareness skillsHigh level of integrity, professionalism, and accountabilityAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAdditional RequirementsMust be at least 21 years of age (or higher if required by state law for armed positions)Must be legally authorized to work in the United StatesMust be able to operate radios, telephones, and monitoring equipmentMust demonstrate professionalism, restraint, and ethical conduct at all timesMust be able to de-escalate situations verbally prior to using force when appropriateSubject to background check, drug screening, firearms qualification, and ongoing compliance requirementsVeterans may be required to provide a DD214 upon conditional offer of employmentPhysical Requirements & Work EnvironmentIndoor and outdoor work environments with exposure to varying temperaturesProlonged standing, walking, observing, and communicatingAbility to carry and operate assigned firearm and duty gearAbility to respond quickly to emergency situationsBenefits & PerksFull-Time Employees May Be Eligible For:Major medical benefitsPaid vacation401(k) retirement planOngoing firearms and professional development trainingAdditional Perks:Weekly payFlexible scheduling (based on operational needs)Employee discounts through corporate affiliate programsAbout Strategic Security Corp.
