Marva Diaz Strategies is looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our team in downtown Sacramento. Our firm works at the intersection of public affairs, public policy, fundraising, advocacy, nonprofit communications, and political strategy. Every day brings something different, and you'll have the opportunity to help advance work that makes a real difference in communities throughout California.

We're looking for someone who is:

An exceptional writer and proofreader

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Proactive and eager to learn

This is primarily an in-office position in downtown Sacramento (Monday-Thursday), with remote work available most Fridays. Starting pay is hourly during the training period, with compensation reviewed upon successful completion of training.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Exceptional proofreading and editing abilities.

Working knowledge of Canva and the ability to create professional communications materials.

Experience managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Preferred but Not Required Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Office, Canva and project management systems.

Experience working in public affairs, government, political campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, or fundraising.

Knowledge of California government and the legislative process.

Experience managing campaign communications, digital outreach, and stakeholder engagement.

Familiarity with AI productivity tools and communications technology.
