Key Responsibilities
Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups in a Cardiac Medical ICU setting
Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
Maintain professional accountability for the provision of direct patient care and evaluate the effectiveness of care delivered by other direct care givers
Operate and manage advanced equipment including Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun
Document and manage patient care using EPIC EMR
May be floated to stepdown units based on staffing needs
Required Qualifications
Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold Missouri licensure
Minimum 3 years of Cardiac Medical ICU experience (inpatient only)
BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
NIHSS certification required
Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for assignments running November 1 through April 1
Must be available for a full week of day-shift orientation prior to beginning night shift
Preferred Experience / Skills
TNCC certification preferred
Experience with medical ICU patients with cardiac emphasis including arrhythmias, STEMI, and post-cardiac arrest care
CVI experience recovering open-heart patients directly from the OR
Familiarity with a diverse patient population including sepsis, ARDS, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, and overdose
