8 Figure Finance is a growing accounting and finance firm. We help businesses build and operate a stronger finance function without hiring an entire in-house team.

We work alongside founders and leadership teams on the financial work that keeps their businesses running and helps them make better decisions. That includes accounting and financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow management, FP&A, and strategic finance.

Our goal is to be more than a firm that delivers financial statements. We want to be an extension of our clients’ businesses: understanding how they operate, building the financial infrastructure they need, and giving leadership clear, reliable information to make decisions.

We’re growing quickly, and we’re looking for someone who wants to play a meaningful role in that growth.

The role

8FF’s CFO practice is growing, and every client engagement runs on a model: multi-year forecasts, monthly variance, 13-week cash flow, and profitability. This role owns those models and the knowledge behind them.

You’ll learn each CFO client’s model and business closely enough to keep it current, explain what changed, and spot what matters before anyone asks. You’ll also be the person who makes sure our CFO walks into every client meeting fully prepared.

This is not a role where you only update cells. We want someone who understands why the numbers moved and what the client should do about it.

What you’ll do

Own the models

\n
• Learn each CFO client’s financial model inside and out, including its structure, assumptions, drivers, and known weaknesses
\n
• Run the monthly model update: load actuals after close, roll the forecast, and refresh variance analysis
\n
• Refresh 13-week cash flow forecasts weekly for clients who need them
\n
• Maintain model integrity through checks, version control, and clean documentation, so any model can be picked up and understood
\n
• Recommend when a model’s structure or assumptions no longer fit the business, and help rebuild them
\n

Know the business

\n
• Track each client’s KPIs, cash position, pipeline, hiring, and major decisions in progress
\n
• Review monthly close packages, and work with our accounting team to resolve issues before they reach the model
\n
• Flag risks early, including cash tightness, margin erosion, customer concentration, and forecast misses
\n

Prep every CFO call

\n
• Prepare a pre-meeting brief before each client call: what changed, why it changed, where cash stands, open issues, and recommended talking points and questions
\n
• Build meeting materials, including variance summaries, charts, scenario analysis, and board or leadership decks
\n
• Join client calls, capture decisions and action items, and own the follow-through
\n

Keep leadership informed

• Send a regular update across all CFO clients covering what’s on track, what’s at risk, and what needs a decision
\n
• Communicate proactively. If something is going wrong with a client, we should hear it from you first.
\n

Build the practice

\n
• Help turn what works for one client into templates, checklists, and tools we use across the firm
\n
• Use AI tools to speed up model updates, analysis, and meeting prep
\n

What we’re looking for

\n
• 3–6 years in FP&A, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or a fractional CFO or outsourced accounting firm
\n
• Strong Excel modeling skills, including three-statement and driver-based forecasts, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting
\n
• Experience inheriting and working inside someone else’s model, not just building your own
\n
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting and how the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow connect
\n
• Clear, concise writing (you can explain a variance in three sentences)
\n
• Enough organization to run several clients on different cadences without anything slipping
\n
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online is a plus. We also run on Notion, Slack, and Double.
\n
• Experience using AI tools in finance work is a strong plus
\n
• Experience with agencies, professional services, SaaS, or other founder-led businesses is a plus
\n

This role isn’t a fit if

• You want to build models but not explain them
\n
• You need someone to tell you what to look at each month
\n
• You’ve never worked inside a model you didn’t build
\n

What success looks like

\n
• Models are updated within 2 business days of each client’s close
\n
• Our CFO never has to open a model to prepare for a call, because the brief already covers it
\n
• There are no client surprises; issues are flagged before they become problems
\n
• Over time, you’re running parts of client meetings yourself
\n
