Collections Specialist

HealthPlus Federal Credit Union Jackson, Mississippi Job Type: Full-Time HealthPlus Federal Credit Union is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for managing delinquent accounts, assisting with collection and recovery efforts, and providing professional member service while supporting daily credit union operations. Responsibilities Monitor and work delinquent loan and account relationships. Contact members regarding past-due accounts and establish appropriate payment arrangements. Document collection activity and maintain accurate account records. Prepare collection letters, notices, and other correspondence. Assist with recoveries, repossessions, garnishments, and legal collection processes. Assist with bankruptcy accounts and related documentation as needed. Maintain accurate collection reports and tracking spreadsheets. Work with management and other staff to resolve delinquent accounts. Follow credit union policies and applicable collection and consumer protection requirements. Assist members professionally and respectfully when discussing account concerns. Provide teller and front-line member service support when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Banking, credit union, or other financial institution experience preferred. Collections experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of teller procedures and financial institution operations is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential financial information. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Ability to communicate professionally with members regarding sensitive financial matters. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team. Attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping are essential. Computer Skills Candidates should be comfortable using: Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word Microsoft SharePoint Adobe Acrobat Email and other standard office applications Work Environment This is an on-site position in Jackson, Mississippi . The Collections Specialist will work closely with credit union management and staff and may assist with other operational or member-service responsibilities as needed.
