Academic, Comprehensive Ophthalmologist - Faculty Physician

The Department of Ophthalmology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, part of Advocate Healthone of the largest non-profit health systems in the United Statesis seeking a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our full-time academic faculty at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist . • Provide comprehensive medical and surgical ophthalmic care to patients of all ages

• Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies in a modern academic setting

• Teach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students in a fully accredited residency program
\n
• Participate in clinical research and industry-sponsored clinical trials
\n
• Practice in a collegial, collaborative, mentorship-driven academic environment with strong institutional support

• Full-time academic faculty position within a respected Department of Ophthalmology
\n
• $100M, 165,000 sq. ft. standalone Eye Institute is opening in 2026
\n
• Robust support structure including ophthalmic technicians, orthoptists, administrative staff, and research coordinators
\n
• Residency program with four residents per year and fellowships in Cornea & External Disease, Retina-Vitreous Disease, Glaucoma, and Pediatric Ophthalmology
\n

Faculty are actively engaged in graduate and postgraduate medical education , clinical research, and innovation. Many diagnostic tests, treatments, and therapies offered at the Eye Center were pioneered by department members. Ongoing involvement in clinical trials allows patients access to advanced therapies not widely available , supporting exceptional outcomes for both common and complex eye conditions.

• Medical degree ( MD or DO ) and completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology Residency
\n
• Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Ophthalmology
\n
• Valid or eligible North Carolina medical license
\n
• Demonstrated expertise in comprehensive ophthalmic care , including surgical procedures
\n
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care
