Pastry Cook

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented Pastry Cook to join our growing New York culinary team!

We are seeking an experienced pastry professional with strong knowledge of baking ingredients, production methods, and commercial kitchen equipment. This role is responsible for preparing high-quality pastry and bakery products while maintaining consistency, presentation, and food safety standards in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, confectionery items, and other bakery products according to standardized recipes and specifications.
• Accurately measure, scale, mix, shape, portion, and finish ingredients and pastry products.
• Apply proper mixing, baking, cooling, assembling, and decorating techniques.
• Monitor baking temperatures and times to ensure consistent quality, texture, flavor, and appearance.
• Complete assigned production tasks across multiple pastry stations while meeting strict deadlines.
• Inspect ingredients and finished products for freshness, quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Follow proper portion-control procedures and accurately monitor food waste.
• Maintain sufficient ingredients, tools, and supplies at assigned production stations.
• Properly label, date, rotate, and store ingredients and finished products according to food safety standards.
• Safely operate and maintain mixers, ovens, scales, and other commercial pastry equipment.
• Keep workstations, equipment, utensils, and storage areas clean, sanitary, and organized.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations outlined in the Food Safety Management System handbook.
• Report food safety, product quality, equipment, or operational concerns to management and the Hygiene and Food Safety team.
• Support the training of new team members when assigned.
• Perform additional duties as directed by the Pastry Chef or management.

Qualifications

• At least one year of pastry or bakery experience required, preferably in a high-volume production environment.
• Strong knowledge of baking ingredients, measuring techniques, mixing methods, baking temperatures, and preparation times.
• Experience using commercial pastry and bakery equipment.
• Comfortable following standardized recipes and production specifications accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, consistency, cleanliness, and presentation.
• Capable of managing a substantial workload across multiple stations while meeting strict deadlines.
• Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, dependable, organized, and committed to producing high-quality products.
• Comfortable standing and working on your feet for extended periods.
• Flexible availability, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
