Work-Life Balance: The company supports a healthy work-life balance with flexible work schedules, remote work options, and employee wellness programs.Internship Overview:The Duke Energy Power Grid Operations (PGO) Cybersecurity Spring Co-op Program is designed for currently enrolled college students seeking hands-on experience securing critical operational technology (OT) environments that support the electric grid. Interns will gain exposure to substation cybersecurity, cyber asset management, vulnerability management, patching, compliance, risk management, incident response, and cybersecurity program governance. Students will work alongside cybersecurity analysts, engineers, and operations personnel to support initiatives such as asset inventory reconciliation, cybersecurity assessments, technology deployments, process improvement, and data analysis. Throughout the internship, students will develop technical and professional skills while gaining insight into Duke Energy's cybersecurity program, electric utility operations, regulatory requirements, and the role cybersecurity plays in ensuring the reliability and resilience of the power grid.Basic/Required QualificationsEnrolled and pursuing bachelor's or master's degree in an IT or Engineering related major, such as Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Software Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higherMust not graduate prior to August 2027Desired QualificationsPrevious internship experienceGPA of 3.5 or higherKnowledge of programming languages, operating systems and computer networksFamiliarity with Angular (or other JavaScript based framework), Java, Python and private and/or public cloud (Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Azure, AWS, etc.) environmentsKnowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principlesFamiliarity with Linux, Windows, Active Directory, Infrastructure as Code, Networking, Data Center InfrastructureFamiliarity with relational databases and query authoring (SQL)Familiarity with the Agile MethodologyExhibits a willingness to learn and growth mindsetWorking Conditions:Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility. Reliable, consistent transportation is required to ensure timely arrival at the applicable facility.Housing stipend available when applicableMany of our opportunities require a 40-hour work week.Co-op session is 16 weeks.
