Restaurant Manager

Reports To: Director of Food and Beverage Goal To provide leadership and direction to associates, ensuring superior customer service and exceeding Member and Guest expectations throughout the River Club. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Schedule staff hours and assign duties in compliance with union and River Club policies, processing time cards and tip sheets accurately. Greet Members and Guests, escort them to their seats, and present menus and wine lists as required Works in Dining room with staff to ensure service is timely and efficient. Manage phone inquiries and record dining reservations accurately. Coordinate facility use or catering services for banquets, receptions, or other events, negotiating details with clients and preparing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Oversee banquet functions and meetings, ensuring proper setup, timing, and exceptional service delivery. Address Member and Guest requests or concerns, communicating with relevant departments and following up to ensure satisfaction. Investigate and resolve complaints related to food quality, service, or accommodations promptly and professionally. Schedule and receive food and beverage requisitions, verifying product quality and quantity upon delivery. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations in food preparation and service areas. Maintain records required by government agencies for sanitation and food subsidies, as applicable. Train staff and implement River Club standards for personnel performance and customer service. Review operational procedures and challenges to identify opportunities for improving service, performance, and safety. Perform service tasks, such as clearing tables or serving food and drinks, when necessary. Assist in organizing and directing training programs, resolving personnel issues, hiring new staff, and evaluating employee performance in dining facilities. Order and purchase equipment and supplies as needed. Attend the weekly BEO meeting on Wednesdays at 2:30 PM. Support the development and execution of monthly departmental training to maintain and enhance service standards. Perform other reasonable duties as required. Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree or higher in hospitality management or a related field. Experience: Mid-level position; minimum of two years of hospitality experience preferred. Skills: Excellent communication, computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite), and organizational skills. Dress Code: Uniform suit as determined by the Director of Food and Beverage. Working Conditions and Essential Physical Demands Physical Requirements: Ability to work long hours while standing and safely lift up to 50 pounds. Decision-Making and Problem-Solving: Adapt to Member and Guest requests and resolve issues efficiently. Conflict Resolution and Negotiation: Handle complaints, settle disputes, and negotiate effectively with others. Communication: Provide clear and timely information to supervisors, peers, and subordinates via phone, email, or in person. Relationship Building: Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships. Organization and Planning: Set goals, prioritize tasks, and organize work to meet deadlines effectively. Information Gathering: Observe and obtain relevant information from all sources to inform decision-making. Resource Management: Monitor and control resources, overseeing expenditures responsibly. Compliance Monitoring: Evaluate processes and events to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and River Club standards. Leadership and Motivation: Guide, direct, and motivate subordinates by setting performance standards and monitoring outcomes. Training and Development: Identify training needs, develop educational programs, and provide instruction to enhance team performance.
