Federal Project Manager Location: Overland Park, KS; Bloomington, MN; Columbia, MD; Tualatin, OR; Orlando, FL; Arlington, VA; Ann Arbor, MI; Cary, NC; Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Houston, TX Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies The Opportunity The Federal Project Manager will function in a project leadership capacity on Department of Defense contracts. Responsibilities include: Manage multiple small to medium sized services projects. Manage multiple Federal clients and/or projects. Support business development, obtain new or repeat business on medium size projects, and support contract negotiations with client peers. Reduce risk to B&V by managing profit on fixed-price engineering projects, managing risk implementing new technology or working with new clients. Act as a project manager, including managing a project team whose composition may vary by project. U.S. citizenship is a requirement. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years’ experience working with A/E design teams associated with the U.S. Department of Defense. Experience with full project lifecycle from proposal to design to construction. Professional Engineer (PE) License or Registered Architect (RA). Experience with AFCEC, NAVFAC and/or USACE. Ability to obtain a Security Clearance. Experience with Business Development, Business Acumen, Execution and Leadership. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search). U.S. citizenship is required. Key Responsibilities Manage multiple small to medium sized services projects, and/or a small EPC project. Manage multiple clients and/or projects. Obtain new or repeat business on medium size projects; support contract negotiations with client peers. Manage risk, including fixed-price engineering, new technology or new clients. Business Development: identify client requirements, develop and maintain relationships, lead the project team preparing and presenting project estimates and proposals. Business Acumen: negotiate contract commercial terms, manage budgets, costs, receivables, contracts and legal issues; analyze and report health metrics; apply policies and regulations to project scope; build relationships with stakeholders; apply value creation. Execution: utilize B&V project management phases & methodology including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout; manage changes and risk on scope, cost, schedule, quality and safety; manage constructability and procurement; manage warranty plan. Leadership: communicate clear expectations, goals and vision; manage performance of direct reports; motivate, coach and mentor professionals; delegate project work; manage conflict and collaboration to achieve results. Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments; professional office environment with potential for limited site visits to Federal and mission critical facilities. Typical office and construction environments, extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards; tasks include sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing; lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds. Compensation Transparency Salary range: $126,236.00–$214,599.00. Final compensation is determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location and other factors permitted by law.
