Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750–$1,840
• Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Progressive Care / PCU
• Healthcare Setting: 24-bed adult progressive care unit
• Location: Maryville, Tennessee, near Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks, ending February 15, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: One weekend shift approximately every two weeks
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3
• Patient Population: Adult patients
• Documentation: Epic electronic medical record
• Orientation: 72 hours

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care, PCU, or comparable adult acute-care nursing experience
• At least 1 year of recent Epic experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Tennessee
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, post-myocardial infarction care, and pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin protocols, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and non-invasive respiratory support
• Current influenza vaccination required
• Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital experience, and higher-acuity or trauma experience preferred

Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult patients recovering from cardiac, vascular, surgical, and other complex medical conditions
• Perform focused nursing assessments, identify changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize and respond to dysrhythmias
• Provide post-MI, post-cardiac catheterization, post-cardiac surgery, and progressive-care monitoring
• Manage cardiac monitoring, IV therapies, heparin protocols, oxygen therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and other ordered interventions
• Care for patients with central lines, PICC lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, and urinary catheters
• Administer medications safely and collaborate with providers regarding changes in treatment plans
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
• Work collaboratively with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to other qualified units or campuses when needed and perform only duties supported by documented competencies
