Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department/Division/Program of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights:

• Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring orthopaedic intervention in blended environment as a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma.
• Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
• Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
• Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Orthopaedic Trauma services.
• Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
• Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission.
• Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
• Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.

Schedule:

• Monday- Friday 6:30-4:30
• No Weekends
• No Holidays
• Call every 4th year 1 night

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience of 2+ years working as an APP is preferred, not required.
• Highly desired previous experience in acute care, surgical specialties or medicine teams such as hospitalist, internal medicine, perioperative, cardiology and emergency.

Minimum Education:

• Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
• Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

Minimum Requirements:

• Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner
• Wisconsin RN License
• Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
• Certification Requirements:
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• DEA registration
• Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
• Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
