In-House Tribal Rights Attorney

Latitude is looking for an attorney with 0-5 years of experience and great research and writing skills to join the in-house legal team as a Staff Attorney for a federally recognized Native American Tribe located in Texas. This role will be a fully in-office role and will report directly to the General Counsel. This is a tremendous opportunity for an attorney seeking to expand their knowledge and get hands-on experience as a legal generalist while providing advocacy and effective representation for Tribal rights and interests.Key responsibilities for the Staff Attorney will include:Advising the Tribe on its rights and interests in various areas and developing strategies to promote and protect those interests.Drafting and reviewing a variety of commercial contracts and agreements, negotiating settlements, and researching matters affecting the rights and interests of the Tribal government and Tribal members.Drafting Tribal legislation, internal policies, guidelines, and procedures for various internal departments.Requirements for the Staff Attorney:Excellent legal research and writing skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and workflow.Attention to detail and accuracy.Cultural awareness and sensitivity.Juris Doctor from an accredited institution.Admission in good standing to practice law in at least one (1) jurisdiction; Texas preferred.Position Details for the Staff Attorney:Type of role: PermanentSchedule: Full-timeLocation: In-Office Role in South TexasCompensation: The salary for this role is competitive within the market space and is commensurate with experience.
