The successful candidate will work collaboratively and with minimal supervision as part of a fast-paced and versatile legal team. The candidate will address complex issues and deliver practical and business-focused legal advice; draft, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial (customer and supplier) and other agreements; monitor and advise the business on relevant legal and regulatory developments; deliver presentations and training; manage special projects; and serve on cross-functional teams. This position will collaborate with Aspen’s executive management, external advisors, and functional areas including Sales & Marketing, Commercial, Operations, Global Supply Chain, Research & Development, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Investor Relations, and other key stakeholder groups. This role is well-suited to a proactive, hands-on, detail-oriented, intellectually curious, business focused and versatile attorney who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced work environment.This position will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and will be based in our Northborough, MA office.How will you do it- Provide substantive, strategic legal advice to support various business functions including Sales & Marketing, Commercial, Operations, Global Supply Chain, Research & Development, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Investor Relations to assist Aspen in navigating legal, regulatory, and compliance issues across the globeDraft, negotiate and manage a wide range of agreements including commercial agreements (customer and supplier), channel partner agreements, confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements, joint venture/development agreements, license agreements, real estate agreements, and other agreements related to Aspen’s businessAssist in all aspects of the development, oversight, and administration of Aspen’s compliance and training programs. Provide day-to-day advice on a wide array of compliance matters including Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption, Data Privacy/Security, Trade Compliance, Antitrust, Records Retention, and other mattersImplement and maintain sound corporate governance practices. Maintain corporate records and draft corporate resolutions, minutes, and operative governance documentsAssist and advise on a wide range of employment law issues, such as recruitment and hiring, performance management, discipline, termination, internal investigations, wage and hour compliance, disability-related accommodations, leaves of absence, non-competition and solicitation, immigration, employee benefits, organizational restructurings, mergers & acquisitions, a globalizing workforce, and business integrationsAssist with enterprise risk management program and related internal governance structures and stakeholder groupsManage or support, as necessary, litigation matters, dispute resolution matters, administrative proceedings, investigations, and responses to regulatory inquiriesManage special projects and serve on cross-functional teams and steering committeesContribute to periodic functional and corporate reporting, including SEC disclosures, as applicableLead or support additional Legal team projects as neededSkills and Experience:Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time and within budget.Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; ability to collect and research data and use intuition and experience to complement data.Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem solving situations and cross-functionally among various departments; present ideas and information in a clear and convincing manner; display willingness to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgment; support and explain reasoning for decisions; include appropriate people in decision-making process.Ability to communicate effectively across mediums, audiences, and situations; ability to listen and request clarification; responds well to questions.
