Environmental Health and Safety Manager at Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling Downey, CA

Position Summary The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager leads and manages employee health, safety, and environmental activities and collaborates with management and other functions within the company. This position partners with facility management to build capability and provide EHS subject matter expertise for manufacturing and/or distribution facilities and supports facility wastewater operations, hazardous materials, and other compliance program tracking as needed. Responsibilities Implement programs to reduce workplace injuries and collisions and ensure continued compliance with regulatory and internal policies. Evaluate and certify effectiveness of company EHS programs through inspections and audits. Provide SME guidance and leadership to assist company compliance with EHS rules and regulations. Identify improvement opportunities, capture, deploy and share best practices. Implement and manage ergonomic, asbestos, ammonia, wastewater, storm water and other compliance programs. Work with Facility and Fleet teams to ensure RCRA, OSHA and DOT operational compliance. Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans. Assist with facility gap assessments and development of corrective action plans. Participate in Workers’ Compensation claims reviews as needed. Gather and analyze EHS data, develop goals and targets, manage scorecards, databases and dashboards. Collaborate with Legal on permit applications and regulatory interactions. Prepare for emergency situations and develop EHS awareness and compliance training programs. Serve on the facility’s crisis management team during serious incidents. Other projects or duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management, Environmental or related field with 6+ years of experience in safety, risk management and/or environmental; or High School Diploma with 9+ years of experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences. Knowledge of local, state or federal environmental, health and safety regulations and how to access and evaluate resources. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Travel up to 50%. Must pass background and drug screening. Preferred Skills and Experience Food and beverage industry experience. People leadership experience. Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Progress toward industry certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or ISO 18001/14001.
