The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of AK Military Youth Academy (AMYA), Operations Section is recruiting for an AMYA Manager.

This position is in the Supervisors Union (SU) bargaining unit at a range 23. This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing: AMYA is seeking an experienced and mission-driven leader to serve as a key member of the Alaska Military Youth Academy (AMYA) leadership team. Under the direction of the Division Director, this position supports the statewide management and administration of AMYA personnel, facilities, and programs by planning, coordinating, and implementing policies, procedures, and operational standards. The role is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources to meet division, department, state, and federal goals while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program Cooperative Agreement. As a senior staff leader, you will provide oversight and adaptability in response to changing resources and operational needs, ensuring both short- and long-term planning objectives are achieved across the division. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and leadership skills to evaluate policies, legislative proposals, and operational procedures to ensure alignment with departmental priorities. You will develop and approve standard operating procedures and policy manuals, while supporting continuous improvement across the division. Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.

*NOTE * SPECIAL NOTICE - JBER (BASE) ACCESS * NOTE*

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson; clearance and access are not within the State's control.

Special Note: In addition, in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
