Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Neuroscience Med/Surg unit. This position requires a night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in medical-surgical telemetry nursing, along with specific experience in stroke and high-acuity care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality patient care in accordance with protocols and guidelines for the Med/Surg and telemetry unit.
• Monitor and assess patients' conditions, interpreting data and implementing appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy, including blood product administration and central line management.
• Perform/assist with complex procedures, including respiratory and gastrointestinal care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and ensure a positive patient experience.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and care options.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in the state of Tennessee.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a Med/Surg or telemetry setting is required.
• Previous charge experience is mandatory.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required.
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line management, and respiratory care.
• Ability to float to other units based on patient care needs and skill set.

Patient Care Focus:

The unit specializes in the care of patients with strokes, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), seizures, and other high-acuity medical conditions. The daily census averages 27 patients with a staffing ratio of 1:6 on nights. Nurses are expected to manage complex patient care, ensuring the safety and well-being of adults and geriatric populations.

Additional Information:

• Orientation hours: 24 hours.
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend.
• Daily patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to, stroke, respiratory failure, acute kidney failure, and sepsis.
• Focus on delivering an excellent patient experience with care that aligns with the latest clinical guidelines.
