Director, Executive Education (School of Government and Policy)

We are seeking aDirector, Executive Education who will provide strategic vision, program development, and administrative oversight for the school's executive education portfolio, including open-enrollment programs, custom corporate programs, and non-degree certificate offerings for working professionals and organizational clients. The position requires competitive market analysis, the development of strategic goals and pricing strategy, external partnership and corporate client development, collaboration with faculty and school leadership, and full budget and P&L responsibility for the executive education function.The Director leads and directs staff responsible for program design, delivery, marketing coordination, and client account management, and serves as the primary point of contact for corporate clients, prospective participants, and internal stakeholders on executive education matters. The Director reports to Vice Dean of Education, with regular planning coordination with academic program leadership, marketing and communications, and development/corporate relations functions.Johns Hopkins’ first new academic division since 2007, the School of Government and Policy is anchored at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in the nation’s capital. It draws on the university’s 150-year research tradition to develop innovative, evidence-based solutions and prepare the next generation of policy and public sector leaders to advance evidence-based solutions for the policy and governance challenges that matter most.The person filling this position will be working in a start-up environment – creating processes and procedures, navigating unexpected obstacles, and adapting to change frequently. An agile mindset and flexible approach to daily responsibilities is needed as we define new ways of working within a well-established university. We are seeking a solution-focused person with a demonstrated ability to create new paths to achieve results.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesStrategic Vision & Market PositioningLead strategic planning for the executive education office, setting the vision, brand positioning, and multi-year growth strategy for open-enrollment and custom corporate programming. Conduct ongoing competitive analysis of the executive education market, benchmarking program offerings, pricing, and positioning against peer institutions.Collaborate with industry and academic thought leaders to inform program design and ensure offerings reflect current practice in leadership and management education.Set annual and multi-year revenue targets and growth goals for the executive education portfolio in consultation with school leadership.Program Development & Portfolio ManagementLead the design, development, and continuous improvement of open-enrollment and custom executive/corporate education programs, certificates, and non-degree offerings.Partner with faculty to develop new program content, identify subject-matter experts, and ensure academic rigor and currency across the portfolio.Design and implement program assessment and evaluation tools; track participant outcomes, satisfaction, and program performance against benchmarked goals.Oversee the development of participant-facing materials, program logistics standards, and delivery quality across in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.Business Development & Corporate PartnershipsLead business development efforts to source, cultivate, and close new corporate and organizational clients for custom executive education programs.Collaborate with corporate relations, development/alumni relations, and career services functions to identify and steward relationships with potential and existing corporate partners.Develop and negotiate custom program proposals, contracts, and pricing agreements with corporate clients.Represent the executive education function at industry conferences, professional associations, and relevant awards processes to build market visibility.Budget & Financial ManagementHold direct budget and revenue responsibility for the executive education office, including pricing strategy, cost management, and margin performance.Prepare and present financial performance reporting, forecasts, and business cases for new program investment to school leadership.Oversee contracting and vendor relationships related to program delivery, venues, and third-party content or logistics providers.Staff ManagementRecruit, hire, train, manage, mentor, and evaluate executive education staff, including any Associate Director(s), Assistant Director(s), or program coordinators.Set and manage team performance expectations; establish metrics to evaluate individual and team performance against portfolio goals.Serve as the escalation point for complex client, participant, or program-delivery issues.Collaboration with Internal StakeholdersPartner with marketing and communications on positioning, campaign development, and market messaging for executive education programs.Liaise with academic program leadership to ensure alignment between degree-program offerings and executive/non-degree programming, avoiding market cannibalization and identifying pipeline opportunities.Collaborate with the registrar, academic technology, and student/participant services functions as needed to support non-degree program administration.Participate in cross-departmental planning and strategy sessions to ensure integration of executive education efforts with broader school initiatives.Committee, Program & Event SupportServe on school-wide committees as requested and represent executive education at major school events.Provide support to other academic programs and departments as needed.Performs other related duties as requested.Minimum QualificationsMaster's Degree in Business, Education, or a field related to the program portfolio.Seven years of experience in academic program administration, corporate learning, or program/project administration in marketing, finance, business, or higher education including supervisory experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsTen or more years of related experience.Corporate, consulting, or business-development experience.Classified Title: Director Integrative & Experiential Edu Job Posting Title (Working Title): Director, Executive Education (School of Government and Policy) Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/ME Starting Salary Range: $76,980 - $148,500 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)
