TITLE: BELLINGHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS LANGUAGE AMBASSADOR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Language ambassadors serve as a bridge/broker for the school and families who speak other languages by providing valuable language and cultural support to assist families in participating in our school community. Language ambassadors are tier 1 interpreters who may assist in informal, spontaneous communications and sight translations to break down barriers and open opportunities for family involvement in our schools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Complete language ambassador training on DESE's website (~90 minutes)
2. Send certificate of completion to Brittany Wright, El Director to file
3. Check email for optional opportunities to participate in informal translation or interpretation
4. Follow all school rules

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a current member of the Bellingham Public Schools staff/faculty SALARY: $33/hour, subject to grant funding REPORTS TO: EL Director
