Northern Children's Services is hosting an IN-PERSON recruitment event on Friday, October 2nd from 10am-6pm taking place on our campus at 5301 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia, PA 1928.

Residential Support Aide (Part-time)

Under the Supervision of the Lead Support Aide, the Support Aides assure residential services in Northern’s Generations I Program are of the highest quality standards according to City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania regulatory and funding source guidelines, as well as state licensing requirements. The Support Aides provides appropriate role modeling in a trauma-informed therapeutic environment that promotes the physical, mental and behavioral health of each resident and assists residents in developing life skills and parenting skills. The Support Aides works as a part of a collaborative team, establishing open communications and support among co-workers. The team is comprised of clinical and non-clinical staff in the residential program.

QUALIFICATIONS  

• Education: (required) High school diploma or general education development certificate. At least 2 years of experience with children or youth.
• Associate's degree plus 1 year of experience with children or youth (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in unrelated field plus 6 months experience
• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field (preferred)
• Special Skills: Familiar with Philadelphia child welfare system (i.e., the Department of Human Services, Community Umbrella Agencies), as well as with and intersecting systems (i.e., the court system, probation, behavioral health,)  
• Certification in medication administration is a plus.
• COVID-19 Screening Skills: Familiar with CDC guidelines for congregate housing, strategies used to help limit the spread of COVID-19

  3pm-11pm (highly needed)

Outcome Specialist (Full-time)

As part of a team, the Outcome Specialist provides direct individual and family services to facilitate healing through trauma-informed services and Positive Youth Development. The Outcome Specialist is responsible for ensuring connections to services, programs, activities, and resources that lead to positive short and long-term outcomes for program participants. 

Outcome Specialist helps pregnant, expecting and parenting adolescent females between the ages of 13-20 stabilize and needing individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood. This includes obtaining and maintaining safe and suitable housing, continuing education, learning independent living skills, obtaining employment, building a support system, and remaining free from legal involvement. In addition, he/she will ensure all parenting youth served are provided with supportive resources to pursue education to enhance parenting skills and to prepare youth for self-sufficiency upon aging out of care. Residential serves sixteen pregnant, expecting or parenting adolescent who are under the care of the City of Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS), either directly through DHS or through a Community Umbrella Agency (CUA), and also possibly through involvement in the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice system. The Outcome Specialist will be responsible for a total of eight residents and their children (two Specialists will serve 16 residents). Regulatory compliance and reporting is a fundamental requirement for this position. 

  QUALIFICATIONS  

Education: Master’s degree preferred in social work, child welfare, or other social service field; Minimum-Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Service or related work area required.  

• Experience: 5 years’ experience in Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, or related social service field.
• Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practice
• Develops a working knowledge of community parenting resources, which may be used in serving clients and maintains close working relationship with these resources.
• Demonstrated understanding of Positive Youth Development.
• Demonstrates accountability for results and keeps commitments to others
• Demonstrates openness and respect for cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and coworkers.
