Director of Rehabilitation Services

POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Rehabilitation Services is responsible for overseeing the rehabilitation department within a skilled nursing facility. This role involves managing a team of therapists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Director will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that promote the highest level of patient recovery and well-being. The Director of Rehabilitation Services will treat each resident with kindness, dignity, and respect. They will knock before entering each resident’s room. They will refer to each resident by their name. They will be courteous to families, visitors, and all staff. They will maintain a positive and calm disposition. They will communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively when speaking to residents, family members, visitors, staff, and any governmental agency personnel. They will make sound independent decisions. They will set an example of working collaboratively between multidisciplinary teams. They will demonstrate patience, initiative, and willingness to assist residents that may be difficult. They will be committed to always doing the right thing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Management: Supervise and support a team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Clinical Oversight: Ensure the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services. Develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Implement and monitor quality assurance programs. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure standards are met. Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the rehabilitation department budget. Ensure efficient use of resources and equipment. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Patient and Family Engagement: Communicate effectively with patients and their families. Provide education and support to patients and caregivers. Address any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally. Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in physical therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field. Current state licensure in the relevant discipline. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a rehabilitation setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred. Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality assurance practices. Ability to develop and manage budgets effectively. Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions. May be involved with residents, family, and government agencies. May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times. Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, postdisaster, etc.) May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals. Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day. Working throughout the nursing areas Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance.
