Revenue Recognition Manager: SaaS, ASC 606/US GAAP

Job Category: Finance Job Description Manager, Revenue Recognition at Salesforce. Partners with Sales, Legal, Sales Operations, and Pricing teams to provide revenue‑recognition expertise, reviewing contracts for US GAAP compliance, advising on ASC 606, and ensuring alignment with the company’s SaaS business model. Responsibilities Work with Sales, Sales Operations, Pricing, and Legal during contract negotiations to recommend proper revenue recognition. Review complex revenue contracts for US GAAP compliance and determine appropriate accounting treatment. Establish standard contract structures for existing and new products and maintain a scalable quote‑to‑cash process. Lead training on revenue recognition rules, policies, and practices within the company, especially the sales organization. Engage with external auditors and respond to changes in audit approach. Keep up with industry trends and build relationships with external technical accounting advisors. Maintain documentation for all review and compliance work completed. Deliver high‑standard departmental, cross‑departmental, and cross‑regional customer service. Develop and maintain SOX compliance with the revenue recognition team and business partners. Perform revenue reporting and analysis as needed. Lead and assist with other special projects as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. 3–5+ years of relevant revenue recognition experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to present ideas clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior executives. Project management skills, including planning, task assignment, status tracking, and reporting. Preferred Qualifications Primary audit experience in SaaS/software industry. CPA strongly desired. Blend of public accounting and industry experience preferred. Team player capable of working with virtual, global, cross‑functional teams while championing diversity. Adaptability in a dynamic, fast‑growing environment. Interpersonal skills with ability to debate difficult issues and think quickly to present to an audience. Strong multi‑tasking ability; prioritize competing goals and responsibilities. Ability to build relationships with new and existing executives across functions. Quickly grasp company operations and business drivers. Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Familiarity with Tableau or equivalent data visualization tools.
