Department: 34154 Atrium Health Cleveland - Specialty Float Pool Status: Part time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 24 Schedule Details: Full time - 2 12‑hour shifts per week Night Shift - 7p-7a Rotating weekends; holidays per policy Pay Range: $19.80 - $29.70 Job Overview: Provides basic, quality patient‑focused care in a clinical setting under the daily direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in accordance with the standards of practice and state regulations. Performs delegated tasks that support a patient care environment and assure patients and family are treated with dignity and respect. Responsibilities Assist RN with daily patient care such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation; may include therapeutic assistive devices, proper positioning, range of motion, and special transferring as indicated. Measure and document vital signs, intake and output, daily weights, and other patient data accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Perform purposeful rounding under RN direction and proactively communicate observations, concerns and patient/family needs; document appropriately. Participate in admission, transfer and discharge processes under RN supervision, including room setup, patient orientation, linen removal and management of patient belongings; ensure call light accessibility and prompt response. Collect urine, stool and sputum specimens and perform point‑of‑care testing, ensuring accurate specimen labeling and identification; maintain required competency. Complete various errands such as picking up/delivering trays, charts, specimens and reports; manage and order nursing area supplies; clean equipment and work areas. Perform patient positioning and transporting duties that involve lifting, pushing/pulling with proper technique and assistive devices. Assist with nutritional needs per RN direction, including diet review, tray set‑up/removal, appropriate positioning and diet selection. Perform tasks related to maintaining skin integrity, including repositioning and skin care; ensure proper use and maintenance of special supplies such as TED hose and sequential compression devices. Under RN direction or as required by unit, remove IVs, provide post‑mortem care and conduct bladder scans. Practice infection control policies, including hand hygiene, sterile and aseptic procedures, proper disposal of contaminated materials and use of appropriate attire when in contact with isolated patients. Demonstrate knowledge of developmental principles and age‑specific care requirements, assessing patient data and applying appropriate interventions. Education & Experience Education Required: High School Graduate, GED or HSED. Will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF). Experience Required: No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic computer skills, excellent oral and written communication, excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities. Licensure and Certifications Required: Nurse Aide in good standing with State Registry. BLS for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 45 days. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist and reach above shoulders during shift. Must lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, 20 lbs over head, carry 40 lbs a reasonable distance. Must push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person. Use foot pedals on carts or machines. Functional vision and hearing required. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation hazards, blood and body fluids; protective clothing mandatory. Operate equipment necessary for job.
