As a Security Officer Part Time Screening Specialist in Gaithersburg, MD , this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you. Pay Rate: $22.09 / Hour Job Schedule: DayTimeSun03:00 PM - 11:00 PM How This Role Works: Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment. Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you. This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed. Responsibilities: Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and members of the public while carrying out site‑specific screening procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government location. Screen individuals, bags, packages, and other permitted items using assigned screening equipment and established procedures; report prohibited or suspicious items and activity to appropriate personnel. Control access to designated areas by verifying credentials, directing visitors, and maintaining accurate visitor and incident documentation. Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established escalation and notification procedures. Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned screening areas, entry points, and surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and report security‑related concerns. Minimum Requirements: At least two years of security-related experience is required. Be at least 21 years of age. A guard card or license is preferred. X‑ray screening experience is preferred. Customer service experience is preferred. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law. Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment. A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
