Reporting to the Chief Humanity Officer (CHO), the HR Manager will translate VHA’s people and culture strategy into consistent, effective HR practices. This role will independently manage day-to-day HR operations while partnering with the CHO on strategic, complex, and high-risk matters. The HR Manager will also provide guidance and professional development to our People & Process Manager, helping build a collaborative HR team that is accessible, knowledgeable, responsive, and trusted. Lead day-to-day HR operations across a complex, 24/7 healthcare environment. Manage employee relations, workplace concerns, investigations, corrective action, and performance matters. Coach leaders through employee relations, performance management, conflict, and difficult conversations. Administer and support FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, benefits, and other employee leave. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee status changes, HR documentation, and offboarding. Maintain accurate HRIS and personnel records and ensure consistent HR processes. Support performance evaluations, professional development, and compensation processes. Maintain compliance with federal, Florida, and applicable employment laws and HR best practices. Identify trends, compliance risks, and workforce concerns and appropriately elevate complex or high-risk matters. Develop and improve HR policies, workflows, documentation, and processes as VHA grows. Mentor and support the professional development of our People & Process Manager. Partner closely with the CHO and organizational leaders to strengthen culture, employee experience, retention, and accountability. Requirements 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with strong employee relations and HR operations experience. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification. Demonstrated ability to independently manage employee relations, investigations, performance concerns, and corrective action. Expertise in managingFMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, benefits, recruitment, onboarding, and employment compliance. Experience coaching managers and supporting employees across multiple levels of an organization. Strong judgment and ability to recognize when matters require executive, legal, or external HR consultation. Excellent communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through. High degree of professionalism, discretion, empathy, accountability, and emotional intelligence. Experience working with HRIS platforms. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, or related field. CVPM or other veterinary management certification. Experience mentoring or developing HR professionals. Healthcare, veterinary, hospitality, or other 24/7 workforce experience. Experience with UKG and Florida employment practices.
