Staff Pharmacist

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Staff Pharmacist role based in Houston, TX. The Staff Pharmacist will verify and dispense prescriptions, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with all state and federal regulations. Responsibilities include reviewing medication orders for clinical appropriateness, checking for drug interactions and contraindications, and providing counseling and education to patients and caregivers. The pharmacist will collaborate closely with prescribers, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize therapy and resolve medication-related issues. Additional duties include supervising technical staff, maintaining proper documentation, supporting quality assurance and accreditation standards, managing inventory and controlled substances, and contributing to process improvements and clinical programs aligned with Scripts Rx’s specialty and mail order services. Qualifications Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license (RPh or PharmD) in the state of Texas; PharmD degree preferred. Experience in a specialty, mail order, or high-volume retail or outpatient pharmacy setting, with strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy and medication safety. Proficiency in prescription verification, DUR (drug utilization review), and clinical review of complex medication regimens. Familiarity with pharmacy management systems, e-prescribing platforms, and basic technology tools used in a modern pharmacy environment. Strong communication and patient counseling skills, with the ability to explain therapies, side effects, and adherence strategies in clear, accessible language. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with prescribers, technicians, and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced, team-centered environment. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy. Knowledge of insurance processes, prior authorizations, and specialty pharmacy workflows (benefits investigation, patient onboarding, refill management) is beneficial. Commitment to ethical practice, regulatory compliance, continuous quality improvement, and patient-centered care.
