Senior Project Accountant

Senior Project Accountant San Francisco, CA $42-48/hr Do you have at least five years of accounting experience supporting in the construction industry? Do you have experience processing payroll, supporting with accounts payable, and supporting with job costing and financial reporting? We are looking for a construction accountant for a new job opportunity in San Francisco, CA. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with payroll, construction accounting, and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. Process and review payroll for field and office employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare and submit certified payroll reports, prevailing wage documentation, and other labor compliance reports as required for public works projects. Reconcile payroll, labor costs, and benefits to the general ledger while investigating and resolving discrepancies. Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records, including vendor payments, customer billing, collections, and cash application. Assist with financial statement preparation, job cost reporting, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, budgeting, audits, and year-end reporting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction, engineering, or contracting industry. Strong payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing, certified payroll, prevailing wage, and union payroll administration. Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close procedures. Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 300/Timberline, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, or similar ERP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain accurate financial records. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Knowledge of construction job costing, project accounting, subcontractor compliance, and labor reporting requirements is highly preferred.
