Senior Cost Estimating Analyst

What we need As the Senior Cost Estimating Analyst, you will deliver rapid, decision-quality estimates for automation systems and engineering changes by synthesizing complex inputs from engineering, supply chain, and finance. Leveraging deep technical intuition, you will translate evolving data into credible cost ranges and risk assessments that guide leadership through early-stage concept development. Beyond project-specific analysis, you will drive the evolution of scalable estimating practices—integrating AI-assisted tools to enhance speed and consistency—while maintaining full ownership of final cost positions. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Costing and Project Reporting, you will act as a critical bridge between technical scope and financial reality. What we do The finance costing and project reporting team plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of projects within an organization. Their responsibilities typically encompass a range of activities related to project costs, budget management, and financial reporting. What you’ll do Develop rough-order, budgetary, and definitive cost estimates for new systems and engineering changes. Support engineering change evaluations with objective cost inputs, including soft-cost impacts. Translate BOMs, drawings, supplier inputs, and technical concepts into structured estimating logic. Identify cost drivers, scope gaps, and areas of uncertainty across system configurations. Clearly document assumptions, risks, and confidence levels associated with each estimate, support building processes. Partner with engineering, operations, and supply chain to refine scope and validate inputs. Deliver timely cost feedback to support iterative solution development and design decisions. Leverage and help develop AI-enabled tools and workflows to accelerate estimate generation, cost breakdowns, and scenario analysis. Track estimate accuracy and continuously refine assumptions based on actual outcomes. What you’ll need Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in a related role, preferably within a technology or engineering environment. Strong project management skills, with experience managing the financial aspects of engineering changes, and accurately estimating project impacts. Proficiency in financial modeling, cost analysis, and accounting principles. Experience with SAP or other ERP systems, as well as familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems, including reading and working with Bills of Materials (BOMs). Exceptional organizational abilities to effectively manage the volume of engineering changes across multiple projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-engineering stakeholders. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting. Hybrid role based in Wilmington, MA (3 days a week) Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi‑weekly basis. Up to 10% of travel may be required. Compensation The base range for this position in the posted location is $101,000.00 - $151,000.00; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
