Speech Pathologist,Bilingual

Overview The Speech Pathologist - Bilingual will provide in-patient, out-patient, and/or neighborhood clinic services, focusing on functional skills to enhance development, restore function, and prevent disability from pediatric conditions, illness and injury. Requires English and Spanish proficiency within an episodic care model. The Speech Pathologist will use protocols, pathways, and evidence-based clinical tools to provide recommendations on the appropriate model of care and episode of care as approved by the primary care physician. Provision of direct patient care services, as needed, includes screening, assessment, evaluation, treatment, and home programming for children with feeding and swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, receptive/expressive language disorders, hearing loss, and the need for AAC devices. The position also includes patient and caregiver education and training. The Speech Pathologist will engage in direct consultation and collaboration with physicians, nurses, other professionals, clinics, and agencies, both within Cook Children\'s Health Care System and within the community. Documentation and correspondence pertaining to these services will follow department and system policies. Utilize protocols, pathways, and evidence-based clinical tools to determine and communicate the appropriate model of care and episode of care as approved by the primary care physician. Deliver direct patient care as needed, including screening, assessment, evaluation, treatment, and home programming for children with feeding/swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, fluency, receptive/expressive language disorders, hearing loss, and AAC device needs. Educate and train patients and caregivers to support ongoing therapy and home practice. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, other professionals, clinics, and community agencies; engage in direct consultation as part of a multidisciplinary team. Prepare and maintain documentation and correspondence in accordance with department and system policies. Qualifications Master\'s degree in speech-language pathology required Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
