• Draft policy provisions and provide interpretation of department policies.
• Identify needs and draft or define procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management.
• Monitor workflow quality and quantity to ensure work is completed.
• Initiate or recommend personnel actions such as hires, fires, and disciplines.
• Complete performance appraisals.
• Develop daily, monthly, and yearly goals and assist in assessing goal attainment.
• Assist in developing and monitoring budgets for relevant areas.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies.
• Implement external and internal audit recommendations.
• Ensure hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of suppliers.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 2–3 years progressively more responsible experience in Central Processing/Materials Management or related work, including some leadership/supervisory experience. Certification through NICHSPDP or IAHCSMM preferred. Skills Required Analytical ability to define procedures and oversee application of methods and guides; sound judgment; interpretation of policies; planning of short‑term to mid‑range goals; assessment of progress. Communication and interpersonal skills for internal and external stakeholders, discretion in communication, conflict resolution, diplomacy, tact, listening, and policy comprehension. Leadership skills: willingness to pursue roles with increasing accountability, decision making, coaching, teaching, counseling, inspiring others, and building alliances. Technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation and other specialized patient‑care equipment.
