Director of Speech Therapy Services (J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center)

Position Speech and Hearing Program Director (NS) Agency: Department of Health and Human Services, Division J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center Description of Work As the Director of Speech Therapy Services, you will lead a dedicated team of speech-language pathologists and a symbol board technician, set departmental goals, and ensure that residents receive exceptional speech, language, and communication services. You will oversee clinical quality, mentor clinicians in creating innovative, person-centered programs, and promote the effective use of assistive technology. Through hands‑on leadership, collaboration, and creative problem‑solving, you will inspire your team to deliver services that enrich communication, independence, and overall quality of life for every resident. Qualifications & Preferences Experience evaluating and treating speech, language, and hearing disorders in adults and/or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including work with augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC). Experience supervising professional staff, conducting evaluations, and coordinating integrated treatment plans. Demonstrated success collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (medical, nursing, OT, PT, special education). Proven experience managing communication and swallowing disorders and understanding their impact on health and safety. Uses clinical outcomes, quality metrics, and feedback to guide program improvements. Education & Experience Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and audiologists and having at least four years of professional diagnostic and treatment experience. Salary Salary Range: $82,857.00 – $136,714.00. Physical Requirements Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer monitor, extensive reading, and visual inspections involving small parts. The role is rated as light work under the sedentary work classification.
