Job Overview : Do you enjoy using AI to turn ideas into working applications? Ingersoll Rand is seeking an early-career Procurement AI & Automation Analyst to join its Procurement Excellence team and build practical tools that simplify work, automate tactical processes, and improve business performance. In this early to mid-level career hands-on role, you'll help develop and support internally built, AI-enabled applications using tools such as Claude Code or OpenAI Codex, with technologies including Snowflake and GitHub. Existing solutions support cost-savings tracking and tariff exposure, with future opportunities spanning supplier scorecards, portals, workflow automation, and other Procurement and Supply Chain needs. Working across Direct and Indirect Procurement, Logistics, and other functions, this individual will identify business challenges, translate needs into solutions, and help take applications from concept to implementation. The role will also assume increasing ownership of existing tools while helping build new platforms. This is not a machine-learning research or a traditional software-engineering role. Specific programming languages and deep Procurement expertise are not required. The strongest brings proven hands-on experience using AI-powered coding tools to build applications or workflows, strong communication and problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a desire to keep learning. If this is you, we invite you to step into a highly visible opportunity that will help shape Ingersoll Rand’s growing portfolio of AI-enabled Procurement solutions while developing experience across AI, automation, business analysis, and product ownership. Responsibilities: Identify and Prioritize AI Opportunities Partner with Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Procurement Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement Excellence teams to identify pain points and repeatable work that can be improved with AI or automation. Map end-to-end processes, decisions, data inputs, handoffs, exceptions, and approval points; distinguish what can be automated from what requires human judgment. Maintain a transparent use-case backlog and help prioritize high-volume, repetitive, lower-complexity opportunities with clear business outcomes and manageable risk. Translate business needs into user stories, process requirements, acceptance criteria, and an achievable delivery plan. Build and Deploy AI Agents, Applications, and Automations Prototype and build solutions using approved generative AI tools, Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted development tools, GitHub, APIs, scripting, data platforms, and low-code/no-code automation tools. Develop prompts, structured outputs, retrieval workflows, business rules, interfaces, and integrations that enable agents to complete defined procurement process steps. Design solutions with appropriate human-in-the-loop checkpoints, exception handling, approval logic, and guardrails. Test for accuracy, reliability, security, usability, and business fit; coordinate user acceptance testing and incorporate feedback before release. Deploy, document, and support solutions in a controlled manner, using version control and repeatable release practices. Own Agent Operations and the Solution Lifecycle Maintain an inventory of active agents and applications, including business owner, purpose, process scope, data sources, prompts or logic, access, dependencies, risk level, and current version. Monitor usage, performance, quality, failures, exceptions, cost, and user feedback; quickly troubleshoot issues and coordinate resolution with technical or business partners. Continuously improve prompts, workflows, integrations, and user experience as business requirements and source data change. Establish practical operating routines for intake, prioritization, testing, release, support, change control, and retirement of outdated solutions. Prevent one-time experiments from becoming unsupported tools by ensuring every production solution has clear ownership, documentation, and measurable outcomes. Support Responsible AI Governance Partner with IT, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and Internal Controls to ensure solutions use approved tools and follow company requirements. Apply appropriate controls for data access, confidential information, auditability, validation, records retention, and human review. Document known limitations, acceptable-use boundaries, escalation paths, and situations in which an AI output must not be used without human verification. Help establish reusable standards, templates, and checklists for procurement AI and automation solutions. Build Adoption and Procurement AI Skills Create and maintain a procurement-specific library of prompts, playbooks, reusable components, examples, and lessons learned. Deliver short training sessions, demonstrations, office hours, and user guides that help employees apply AI safely in real procurement workflows. Collect feedback, share successful use cases, and make time savings and process improvements visible to encourage adoption. Act as a practical connector between business users and technical teams, communicating clearly with both audiences. Measure and Communicate Business Impact Build and maintain an AI scorecard that tracks adoption and operating results, not just activity. Track measures such as percentage of the team using approved AI tools, number of workflows automated, number of active agents handling real work, cycle-time or hours saved, accuracy, exception rate, user satisfaction, and financial or risk-reduction value. Provide concise updates on the portfolio, delivery status, risks, lessons learned, and realized benefits to Procurement Excellence leadership and business stakeholders. Use data and user feedback to recommend where to scale, redesign, pause, or retire solutions. Illustrative Use Cases Examples may include contract review against approved playbooks, supplier discovery and qualification screening, RFP content development, supplier response analysis, bid-comparison support, purchase-request triage, approval routing, renewal-deadline monitoring, category intelligence, and recurring procurement reporting. The role will not be limited to these examples. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, information systems, analytics, engineering, supply chain, business, finance, or a related field. 2–3+ years of relevant experience, which may include professional experience, internships, co-ops, academic projects, freelance work, or a demonstrated project portfolio. Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience using Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or comparable AI-assisted development tools to build applications, platforms, workflows, or automations; general chat-based LLM use alone is not sufficient. Experience taking at least one AI-assisted solution from business need or concept through working output, including solution development, iteration, testing, and evaluation of results. Experience analyzing business processes and translating ambiguous needs into defined requirements, workflows, automation opportunities, or acceptance criteria. Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including gathering requirements, communicating solutions, incorporating feedback, and adapting to changing technologies or business needs. Core Competencies AI-Enabled Problem Solving – Identifies practical opportunities to apply AI and automation to business problems and improve processes. Business & Process Analysis – Breaks down ambiguous workflows, identifies gaps or inefficiencies, and translates needs into clear solution requirements. Learning Agility & Curiosity – Quickly learns emerging AI tools, technologies, and approaches in a rapidly changing environment. Cross-Functional Collaboration – Builds effective working relationships across Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, Legal, Cybersecurity, and other business functions. Communication & Translation – Effectively translates business needs for technical audiences and technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Ownership & Continuous Improvement – Takes accountability for solutions from concept through deployment, support, measurement, and ongoing enhancement Preferences: Experience using multiple AI-assisted development platforms or advanced AI development capabilities beyond the minimum required experience. Exposure to Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Contract Management, Supplier Management, or Spend Analytics. Experience with Git/GitHub or other version-control practices. Experience with Snowflake or another cloud-based data platform. Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization/reporting tools. Experience with low-code/no-code automation or application-development platforms, such as Power Automate, n8n, Zapier, Retool, or Streamlit. Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, scripting, structured data, or data connections. Familiarity with agentic AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI evaluation methods, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop design. Experience supporting or maintaining internally developed applications, workflows, or automation solutions. Experience conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) and incorporating user feedback. Experience creating technical/process documentation, user guides, playbooks, or reusable templates. Experience delivering training, demonstrations, office hours, or change-adoption support. Travel and Work Arrangements This is a Remote US based role only and not open to international candidates Minimal travel ( Pay Range The base pay range for this role is $80,000 - $115,000 annually.
