VDC Modeler

QUALIFICATIONS

·        3+ years of BIM/VDC modeling, drafting, coordination, design production, trade modeling, or construction technology experience; ground-up multifamily experience preferred.

·        Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360/ACC or equivalent platforms, and model coordination workflows.

·        Ability to read drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and model views with attention to detail and revision control.

·        Understanding of basic construction means/methods, trade coordination, layout, model organization, and field installation constraints.

·        Coursework or degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Drafting, BIM/VDC, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS

·        Revit/BIM modeling experience supporting ground-up multifamily construction coordination.

·        Ability to create, update, and maintain accurate construction models, coordination models, and model-based deliverables.

·        Understanding of construction drawings, MEP systems, structural/architectural coordination, and field layout needs.

·        Navisworks or comparable coordination software experience preferred.

·        Ability to support clash detection, model updates, coordination deliverables, and issue documentation.

·        Strong attention to detail, drawing/model accuracy, version control, and documentation discipline.

·        Ability to communicate model issues clearly to the VDC Manager and project team with accountability and follow-through.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

·        Travel as needed for site verification, project kickoff, field coordination, model-to-field reviews, and coordination meetings.

·        May support multiple projects remotely and onsite based on project needs.

AREAS OF OVERSIGHT

·        Model updates, model cleanup, coordination views, clash exports, field support visuals, and VDC document organization for assigned projects.

·        Revision tracking, file naming, model version control, and coordination issue support.

·        Support of clash detection, constructability review, 4D/sequence visuals, quantity extraction, and model-to-field verification.

·        Preparation of clear screenshots, marked-up model views, issue references, and field coordination exhibits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Model Production / Updates: Create, update, and maintain assigned models, views, sheets, exports, and coordination files in accordance with project standards and direction from the VDC Manager.

·        Coordination Support: Assist with clash detection, model comparison, issue identification, clash grouping, report preparation, and coordination meeting exhibits.

·        Document Review: Review drawings, RFIs, ASIs, submittals, shop drawings, and design changes to identify model impacts and update assigned model elements or issue logs as directed.

·        Field Support: Prepare model views, screenshots, section cuts, dimensioned exhibits, and visual aids to help field teams understand conflicts, clearances, installation sequencing, and scope coordination.

·        Model-to-Field Verification: Support comparison of field photos, DroneDeploy, ground capture, overlays, and site observations against models and plans to identify discrepancies.

·        File Control: Maintain organized model files, exports, clash reports, screenshots, coordination exhibits, and deliverables in company-approved platforms.

·        Quantity / Data Support: Assist with 3D quantity extraction, model data review, schedule visuals, and 4D simulation support as assigned.

·        Coordination Meetings: Attend VDC and trade coordination meetings, capture assigned action items, and support follow-up on model updates or issue closure.

·        Quality Control: Check assigned model work for completeness, correct references, current revisions, and consistency with project standards before release.

·        Lessons Learned: Track recurring modeling/coordination issues and communicate them to the VDC Manager for future workflow improvements.

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

·        Provide weekly status updates to the VDC Manager on assigned model tasks, open issues, completed updates, questions, and support needed.

·        Maintain current task list and issue status for assigned coordination items.

·        Update model files and exports by agreed deadlines and immediately flag missing information or conflicts that prevent completion.

·        Support weekly VDC coordination reports with screenshots, clash exports, issue references, ready/not-ready areas, and closure evidence.

·        Escalate schedule-critical model conflicts or missing inputs the same day they are identified.

SKILLS

·        Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, model viewers, clash detection support, and coordination file workflows.

·        Ability to read drawings/specifications and translate changes into model updates or coordination exhibits.

·        Strong attention to detail, file organization, revision control, and follow-through.

·        Clear communication through visuals, screenshots, marked-up views, and concise issue descriptions.

·        Basic construction sequencing and trade coordination awareness.

·        Ability to learn project-specific VDC standards and work within deadlines.

CERTIFICATIONS

·        Preferred: Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360/ACC, or equivalent certifications.

·        Preferred: Procore certifications.

·        Preferred: OSHA 10.

·        Optional advantage: DroneDeploy, Bluebeam, AGC CM-BIM, or related technology credentials.
