Visual Quality Evaluator for AI Model Training [Remote]

Help evaluate and improve advanced generative AI visual outputs by applying a professional, frame-by-frame standard for image quality. This role is suited to experienced film, VFX, animation, and photography professionals who can determine whether enhanced or upscaled visuals meet demanding production-quality expectations. Role Overview

You will assess high-resolution video and still imagery at the pixel level, identifying issues that may be missed by a general audience, including compression artifacts, noise, aliasing, banding, inconsistent grain structure, and excessive or insufficient sharpening. Your expertise will help establish reliable visual-quality standards for foundational AI models.

• Evaluate high-resolution video and still images for pixel-level quality issues, including compression artifacts, noise, aliasing, banding, grain inconsistencies, and sharpening problems.
• Flag output that falls short of professional image-quality standards.
• Develop and refine evaluation templates and rating guidance that enable consistent reviews, including edge cases.
• Translate complex visual observations into clear, precise language for data captions and evaluation templates.
• Create visual samples for targeted testing and side-by-side comparisons.
• Work with subject matter experts and program leads to maintain visual consistency across sequences and reviewers.

• At least 5 years of professional experience evaluating high-end visual work in film, VFX, animation, or professional photography.
• Professional experience in at least one relevant discipline: VFX supervision, rendering supervision, lighting supervision or artistry, color grading, cinematography or directing photography, effects or surfacing artistry, high-end photography, directing with substantial crowd and background-action experience, or digital projection.
• Training from a university or program recognized for film, visual effects, or digital media.
• Reliable access to a 4K-resolution monitor or display for detailed image evaluation.
• Familiarity with AI tools and workflows, including creating visual samples for testing and comparison.
• Fluent English communication skills and the ability to describe nuanced visual details precisely.

• Part-time W-2 employment, with potential placement on the extended workforce of a leading AI laboratory.
• Commitment of 20 hours per week.
• Working hours must overlap with the PST to EST time window.
• Remote role for candidates located in the United States.

$60 to $90 per hour.
