Project Estimator

Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Project Estimator to support quoting, costing and project planning activities for a Milwaukee, WI area manufacturer. This role is responsible for reviewing customer specifications, interpreting technical drawings, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with engineering, production, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure competitive and profitable project bids. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience using a CAD system to review and interpret product designs and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, tooling, and production processes for new and existing projects.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, and technical documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Use a CAD system to interpret designs, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
• Partner with engineering, production, purchasing, and sales teams to gather pricing and feasibility information.
• Develop quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation for customer submissions.
• Analyze manufacturing methods and recommend cost-effective solutions to improve pricing accuracy and project profitability.
• Maintain estimating records, pricing databases, and historical cost information.
• Assist with change orders, revisions, and updates to project estimates as needed.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to estimating processes, workflow efficiency, and cost control.
• Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding timelines, assumptions, and estimate details.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of project estimating experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using a CAD system is required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and production costing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other estimating or ERP software.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
