Sr. Risk Management Specialist

This part time contract role is located in Pleasanton, CA with Hybrid onsite expectations. From overseeing complex insurance placements and contract reviews to leading cross-functional initiatives and supporting mergers and acquisitions, you will serve as a critical strategic partner across the organization. Responsibilities Manage insurance placements, renewals, claims, contract reviews, and other insurance-related processes to support evolving business needs Help design and implement a global risk management strategy that supports business growth and innovation while protecting company assets Collaborate across teams to identify, assess, and track risks, clearly articulating a subject matter point of view to diverse stakeholders Independently drive outcomes for insurance projects, serving as a critical contributor and leader for cross-functional efforts Review and propose insurance terms in complex commercial contracts, including those for suppliers, partner/resellers, customers, real estate leases, and construction agreements Assist in managing the operations of a captive insurance entity and support the integration of mergers and acquisitions into the global insurance program Conduct regular reviews of existing processes, analyzing effectiveness and efficiency to execute necessary improvements and automation Identify and prioritize areas within the risk management function to apply Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools Skills Deep expertise in insurance brokerage, underwriting, and/or corporate risk management within a global organization Proficiency in applying AI tools and automated solutions to improve efficiency and scalability in risk management Strong project management capabilities with the ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously from inception to completion Proven ability to revamp and optimize risk management processes, particularly in areas such as claims handling and contract management Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical risk concepts for senior leadership and internal business partners Ability to navigate and influence within large-scale, matrixed organizational structures Experience 10 or more years of direct experience as an insurance broker or underwriter and/or in a risk management role at a global organization Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional risk or insurance-related projects within a complex organizational environment Hands‑on experience with AI or automation tools applied to risk management workflows; proficiency in Gemini/Claude, Python, and Cursor is a plus Experience working with or within a technology‑focused organization with global reach is preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Insurance/Risk Management, Data Science, or a related field Master's degree preferred CRM, ARM, CPCU, or PMP certification preferred This is a rare opportunity to step into a high‑visibility role where your expertise will directly shape the future of a global risk management function.
