AMT Certified Medical Assistant

Overview: Join a dedicated healthcare team supporting both administrative and clinical needs of physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine clinic located in the Southeastern U.S. region. This role involves assisting with patient vital signs, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and well-being at all times.
- Accurately document patient care and interactions during visits and phone communications.
- Collect and process point-of-care, laboratory, and pathology samples following established protocols.
- Perform quality and safety checks on waived testing equipment and supplies.
- Provide patient education under provider supervision.
- Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as directed by licensed providers.
- Assist providers during procedures and examinations, including chaperoning and setup.
- Prepare reusable instruments for sterilization and manage biohazard and pharmaceutical waste according to OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Manage supply inventory in designated clinical areas.
- Support front desk operations including greeting patients and scheduling appointments.
- Assist with coding and billing data entry for insurance and quality assurance purposes.
- Coordinate with external healthcare partners to facilitate patient care plans.
- Monitor electronic communications and respond promptly.
- Perform components of well visits or physicals as directed.
- Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
- Conduct high-level disinfection procedures as required.
- Flexibility to float to other clinics as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and successful passage of a nationally recognized certification exam (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations and activate emergency services.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
- Physical capability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Comfort with potential exposure to blood or infectious materials.
