Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantOur client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Providence, RI. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close activities, and compliance efforts while partnering with leadership to ensure sound financial management and reporting accuracy.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, prepaids, and intercompany transactions.Prepare account reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, leases, and other balance sheet accounts.Reconcile bank and investment accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial reporting.Support grant accounting activities, funding tracking, and regulatory reporting requirements.Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and preparation of supporting documentation.Participate in budget preparation, monitoring, and financial analysis.Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and organizational policies.Identify opportunities for process improvements and support special projects.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).CPA or CPA-track preferred.5+ years of accounting experience, with nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus.Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Salary Range:$77,000 – $95,000#INAUG2026
