Rates: 5022 Euros/month Gross on Employment contract (OR) 52 Euros/hr on B2B Contract

Role Overview

• We are looking for an experienced Data Center Physical Deployment Engineer to support a large-scale data center infrastructure deployment project.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for on-site coordination, physical deployment, installation, cabling, testing, issue management, progress tracking, documentation, and post-deployment support.
• The role requires someone with strong experience in data center physical infrastructure deployments who can work independently on-site and coordinate effectively with customers, vendors, business partners, and remote technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Center Site Coordination

• Act as the primary on-site coordination point for daily deployment activities.
• Coordinate with the customer, business partner (BP) teams, remote engineering teams, contractors, and other vendors.
• Ensure activities are carried out according to the approved project schedule and site requirements.
• Coordinate access, installation activities, dependencies, and site readiness.

2. Physical Deployment & Installation

• Support and coordinate the physical deployment of data center racks and IT infrastructure equipment.
• Coordinate rack/equipment installation, physical positioning, cabling, labelling, and connectivity.
• Support deployment activities involving GPU/liquid-cooled racks and air-cooled/non-GPU racks.
• Ensure equipment is installed according to approved deployment procedures and standards.
• Coordinate with installation teams and vendors to ensure timely completion.

3. Daily Work Planning

• Plan daily site activities based on the overall project schedule.
• Allocate and coordinate available site resources.
• Track planned versus completed activities.
• Identify activities that may impact the project timeline and take appropriate action.

4. Issue & Dependency Management

• Identify site issues, installation problems, dependencies, and blockers.
• Perform initial investigation of physical infrastructure, cabling, connectivity, and hardware issues.
• Coordinate resolution with remote engineering teams, vendors, and the customer.
• Escalate critical issues in a timely manner.

5. Quality & Installation Validation

• Perform/coordinate quality checks for:
  • Rack installation
  • Equipment installation
  • Cabling
  • Cable management
  • Labelling
  • Physical connectivity
  • Installation documentation
• Ensure all deployment activities comply with approved customer and project standards.
• Support testing and final site validation.

6. Progress Tracking & Reporting

• Maintain daily deployment progress against the project plan.
• Track completed racks, devices, installation activities, testing and outstanding issues.
• Prepare daily status reports.
• Provide photographs, progress updates, issue logs and other required project documentation.
• Highlight risks, delays and dependencies to the project team.

7. Safety & Data Center Compliance

• Follow all customer data center access, security, safety and operational procedures.
• Ensure installation activities are performed in accordance with site rules.
• Coordinate required site permits/access and comply with customer security requirements.

8. Post-Deployment Support

• Provide on-site support following completion of the deployment.
• Assist with:
  • Device issues
  • Connectivity issues
  • Cabling problems
  • Hardware-related issues
  • Basic hardware troubleshooting
  • Coordinate unresolved technical issues with remote engineering teams and vendors.

9. RMA & Hardware Replacement

• Identify faulty equipment and perform initial checks.
• Capture required device information, including asset/device details and relevant fault information.
• Coordinate the RMA process with the customer, vendor and remote technical teams.
• Support physical removal of faulty equipment.
• Support installation and re-installation of replacement equipment.
• Perform cabling, labelling and basic connectivity checks following replacement.

10. Post-Deployment Documentation

• Maintain and update:
  • Asset records
  • Deployment records
  • RMA status
  • Issue logs
  • Replacement details
  • Installation records
  • Testing/validation records
  • Final site documentation

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• 5+ years of experience in Data Center deployment, implementation, installation or infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working in a physical data center environment.
• Hands-on experience with rack and equipment deployment/installation.
• Experience with data center cabling, cable management and labelling.
• Experience coordinating on-site deployment activities.
• Experience working with customers, vendors, contractors and remote technical teams.
• Good understanding of data center hardware and physical IT infrastructure.
• Experience with installation testing, connectivity checks and basic hardware troubleshooting.
• Experience with RMA, hardware replacement and re-installation activities.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to identify and escalate technical issues, risks and project blockers.
• Ability to work independently in a customer-facing data center environment.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Desirable

• Experience with large-scale data center build/deployment projects.
• Experience supporting GPU/high-density compute environments.
• Experience with liquid-cooled and air-cooled data center racks.
• Experience with server, network and storage equipment installation.
• Experience with data center migration, rollout or commissioning projects.
• Knowledge of structured cabling and data center standards.
• Experience working with OEMs, system integrators or data center service providers.
