Senior Traffic Engineer

DescriptionGPI is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to grow and lead our traffic engineering discipline in the Delmarva region. This is a key leadership role for an experienced professional who desires to win work, build a team, and deliver technically sound traffic engineering services for public-sector clients.This position is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer ready to take on greater business development responsibility in the DelMarVa region. The candidate should be highly proficient, be able to support project delivery, and will collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers on a wide range of transportation projects.In this role, you will pursue and manage contracts, develop client relationships, recruit and mentor staff, and perform traffic analyses, design, and reviews on active projects. For more information, visit: ResponsibilitiesSupport business development efforts through project pursuits, proposals, and client coordinationSeek and pursue traffic support service contracts to build a portfolio of traffic-related work in Maryland and DelawareManage contracts, projects, and tasks for traffic engineering assignmentsCoordinate with clients, agencies, and internal project teams to ensure successful project deliveryPrepare and review traffic engineering analyses, including traffic impact studies, operational analyses, and safety evaluationsDevelop and review traffic signal plans, signing and pavement marking plans, and other traffic design elementsPerform and review traffic capacity and operational analyses using industry-standard toolsReview and interpret traffic data, including turning movement counts and field observationsPrepare and review technical reports, memoranda, exhibits, and agency submissionsSupport junior staff through technical guidance and mentoringAssist with construction administration and respond to field issues as neededQualificationsBachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related disciplinePE required, PTOE preferred12 or more years of relevant traffic or transportation engineering experienceProven ability to manage projects and client relationships and coordinate multidisciplinary teamsSolid understanding of traffic engineering principles, standards, and design practicesExperience with traffic analysis and design software such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, AutoCAD, or MicroStationExperience with Maryland DOT, DelDOT, county, or municipal projects is strongly preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsRequirementsMaintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final considerationRead, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English languageBasic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team membersAble to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while workingGPI offers excellent benefits, including a 401(k) plan, ESOP, medical/dental/vision plans, paid time off, and more.
