Job Title: Registered Dietitian

Location: Bronx, NY

Duration: 14-Week Contract

Schedule: Day Shift – Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Guaranteed Hours: 35 Hours Weekly

Compensation: $48 - $51 per Hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian to provide comprehensive nutritional assessment, education, and intervention services in an acute care healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will evaluate patients' nutritional needs, develop individualized nutrition care plans, collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and support positive patient outcomes through evidence-based nutrition practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nutrition screenings and comprehensive assessments based on patient acuity and level of care.
• Evaluate nutritional status using clinical findings, laboratory data, medical history, and physical assessments.
• Interview patients and family members to gather information regarding dietary habits, nutritional concerns, and food preferences.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
• Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients and caregivers.
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, recommendations, and patient understanding in the medical record.
• Modify patient menus and dietary plans as clinically indicated.
• Monitor and educate patients regarding food and medication interactions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
• Participate in follow-up evaluations and adjust nutrition interventions as necessary.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

Required QualificationsEducation

• Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Foods and Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited college or university required.
• Master's Degree preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian required.
• Primary Source Verification of CDR registration required.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification preferred.
• Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) certification preferred.
• Current AHA BLS certification preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Dietitian experience required.
• 3+ years of clinical nutrition experience preferred.
• Prior inpatient/acute care experience required.
• Experience with nutrition-focused physical examinations required.
• Experience managing patients with diabetes, malnutrition, and critical illness preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong nutritional assessment and care planning skills.
• Knowledge of diabetes management and nutrition therapy.
• Experience diagnosing and managing malnutrition.
• Ability to interpret laboratory, physical, and social data relevant to nutrition care.
• Strong patient interviewing and history-taking abilities.
• Experience providing nutrition education and counseling.
• Knowledge of food and drug interactions.
• Excellent documentation and follow-up care skills.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.
• Bilingual Spanish language skills preferred.
• Ability to participate in Webex and/or in-person interviews.
