Billing SpecialistGrant - Omaha, NE 68111OverviewSalary Range $19.50 - $27.41 HourlyDescriptionPosition Summary: We are looking for a goal oriented, revenue driven, highly accurate and motivated biller to join our team. The Billing Specialist will review charges submitted and process claims for payment and application of the sliding fee schedule. This includes resolving internal claim edits to ensure claims are submitted cleanly including adjustment claims, correction of rejections and/or denials. This position is also responsible for responding to patient billing inquiries. Secondary duties include, but are not limited to: entry of patient demographic information, guarantor and insurance information and patient payment processing.Position-Specific Competencies/Essential Functions/Duties & ResponsibilitiesComputer proficiency particularly experience using practice management software, word processing and spreadsheet applications, with a minimum of 40 wpm typing speed and 10-key by touchExperience in CPT and ICD-9 codingTimely follow-up on insurance claim denials, exceptions or exclusions with experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to maximize entitled reimbursementAbility to submit all claims with minimal to no errors, and verify completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submissionAbility to read and interpret insurance explanation of benefitsMeet regularly with Revenue Cycle Team to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles, and attend monthly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requestedAbility to manage relationships with various insurance payersResponsible and professional use of confidential information with the ability to make necessary arrangements with medical records for the completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companiesPerform to company compliance standards with policies and proceduresExcellent customer service skillsKempt appearance with satisfactory dictation and demeanor, and a positive attitudeOther duties as assigned.QualificationsPosition RequirementsEducation: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred. Two years of billing experience strongly preferred.Experience: Computer proficiencyExpertise: Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, Proficient verbal, written, and reporting, Microsoft applications (experience with Excel required), internet, email. Experience collecting, reviewing, and presenting data. Good record keeping methods. Ability to achieve measurable outcomes. Ability to manage time, multi-task, and work with patients, clients, and fellow employees.
