The Assembler plays a key role in building metal frame assemblies by working with a small team to lift, fit, and secure panels using hand and power tools. This position involves reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, installing insulation, and performing basic quality checks to ensure each unit meets specifications. The role requires comfort with physical work, including lifting heavy components and working from ladders or platform stairs, while following established safety and assembly procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lift and position heavy panels, often weighing 50 pounds or more, and slide them into metal frames using safe team lifting techniques.
• Use hand tools and power tools to assemble frame sides and panels, ensuring all components are properly aligned and securely fastened.
• Perform hand assembly tasks such as placing nuts on bolts and tightening fasteners according to specifications.
• Cut insulation materials using a utility knife and accurately install insulation into frames as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints and use tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure assemblies meet design specifications.
• Conduct basic quality inspections on assembled units to confirm correct installation, fit, and finish.
• Cross-train with the paint department to support finishing processes and contribute to overall production flow.
• Work collaboratively within a group of 45 team members, following direction from an experienced assembler overseeing the work station.
• Use calipers, air tools, and other measuring and assembly equipment as needed to complete tasks accurately.
• Safely work on ladders and platform stairs for portions of the assembly process when required.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Perform other related assembly and production duties as needed to meet daily and weekly output goals.

Essential Skills

• 6 months to 1 year of manufacturing or assembly experience, preferably in a production or fabrication environment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly work.
• Basic math skills to take measurements, verify dimensions, and perform simple calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints to understand assembly requirements and component placement.
• Competence using a tape measure accurately for layout and verification of part dimensions.
• Experience with quality inspection practices to check assemblies for correctness and completeness.
• Comfort working on ladders and platform stairs as part of the assembly process.
• Ability to work effectively in a small team setting and follow instructions from a lead assembler.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to manufacturing environments, with experience in metal fabrication or metal products considered ideal.
• Familiarity with calipers for precise measurement of parts and components.
• Experience using air tools in an assembly or production setting.
• Willingness to cross-train in related departments, such as paint or finishing, to support production needs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Reliability in attending scheduled shifts and mandatory overtime when required.

Work Environment

This is a 2nd shift position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, plus mandatory overtime on Fridays. Additional overtime is available on Saturdays for 10-hour shifts on a sign-up basis. Work takes place in a manufacturing facility focused on metal frame assembly, where employees regularly use hand tools, power tools, tape measures, calipers, air tools, and utility knives. The role involves frequent lifting of 50 pounds or more, standing for extended periods, and working in a group of 45 people at an assembly station overseen by a trained assembler. Some tasks require working on ladders or platform stairs. The environment emphasizes safe tool usage, adherence to production processes, and teamwork to meet output and quality standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
