The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and administrators to support students' academic achievement, social‑emotional growth, and overall well‑being. The School Counselor will provide counseling services, develop intervention strategies, support student success initiatives, and help foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where every student can thrive. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university required. New York State School Counselor Certification required. Authorization to work in the United States. Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting preferred. Strong understanding of child and adolescent development. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Experience using data to inform interventions and support student achievement. Proficiency with educational technology and student information systems. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Summary The School Guidance Counselor is responsible for implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success for all students. This role includes providing individual and group counseling, collaborating with families and staff, analyzing student data to identify barriers to achievement, supporting students through transitions and high school admissions, and serving as an advocate for student needs. The School Guidance Counselor works closely with school leadership and instructional staff to create a positive learning environment that encourages student growth, resilience, and achievement while supporting the mission and values of OWN Charter Schools. Provide individual and group counseling services to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. Collaborate with students, families, teachers, and administrators to identify and address student needs. Develop and implement intervention strategies that promote student success and well‑being. Support students and families through the high school admissions process. Analyze student data to identify barriers to achievement and inform support plans. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and confidentiality in accordance with school policies and legal requirements. Participate in student support meetings, professional development, and school‑wide initiatives. Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture aligned with the mission and values of OWN Charter Schools. Salary Range: $72,562 – $115,136 based on education, certification, years of relevant experience, and verified prior service, in alignment with the OWNCS salary scale. Employees with 30 credits beyond a master’s degree (MA +30) may be eligible for additional compensation in accordance with the salary schedule. Schedule This is a 10-month instructional position , with salary and benefits distributed evenly over 12 months to ensure consistent income and year‑round coverage.
